listening prayer
today, don’t say a word. Ask God to speak and simply listen. What do you hear? Even if it is only silence, thank God when you are done for a moment in time with HIm.

A kingdom prayer
We give glory to God for the victory of his Son
We pray for the coming of God’s kingdom among us
Lord, send down your abundant blessing on your people who have devoutly recalled the death of your Son in the sure hope of the resurrection: grant them pardon, bring them comfort, may their faith grow stronger and their salvation be assured. Amen
Worthy is the Lamb, the Lamb that was slain to receive all power and wealth,
Wisdom and might, honour and glory and praise!

Breath Prayer
There are many prayers that can be spoken as we breath. The rhythm of the body becomes a a rhythm of prayer. Words are formed (mentally) as we breathe in, and others as we breathe out. Try this one:
Jesus my lover, my soul longs for you.
Try saying it as you breathe for at least one minute. “Jesus my love” as you breath in, “my soul longs for you” as you breathe out. The repitition allows it to sink from our mind deep into our heart.

A Collect for the Renewal of Life
From The Book of Common Prayer
O God, the King eternal, who dividest the day from the night and turnest the shadow of death into the morning: Drive far from us all wrong desires, incline our hearts to keep thy law, and guide our feet into the way of peace; that, having done thy will with cheerfulness while it was day, we may, when night cometh, rejoice to give thee thanks; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8
God is patient, love is kind. God does not envy, God does not boast, God is not proud. God is not rude, God is not self-seeking, God is not easily angered, God keeps no record of wrongs. God does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. God always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. God never fails.
Amen.
this is 1 Cor. 13:4-8 with God inserted where the text reads love. God is love!

Station 14
Joseph takes a risk out of love and devotion to Jesus. He declares himself a disciple of Jesus by going to Pilate and by offering his tomb. We pray for true discipleship and the surrender to Jesus of all that is sinful in our lives.
God our Father, we have been baptised into the death of your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ: grant that, by continually putting to death our sinful nature, we may be buried with him and through the grave and gate of death may pass to our joyful resurrection; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Holy God
Holy and strong
Holy and immortal
Have mercy on us all.

Prayer in this new year
Eternal Father, you have placed us in a world of space and time, and through the events of our lives, you bless us with your love. Grant that in this new year we may know your presence, see your love at work, and live in the light of the event that gives us joy forever–the coming of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

still need writers
friends/readers.
there are 3 of us writing posts right now – we need some others who can write one day each week!
If you are interested, but intimidated by having to create prayers and creeds yourself, I can point you in helpful directions. Maybe you’ve never done something like this, but want to give it a shot? Now’s the time…
