Lord Jesus, at my baptism I promised to be your soldier. How quickly have I turned away from following you: Help me to repent and make fresh start and like you, to face all difficulites with courage and faith.

Eternal Father, Your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ fufilled your will by taking our nature
and giving his life for us. Help us to follow his example of humility and self-sacrifice by
walking in the way of the Cross; Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

Christ is Supreme

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God.
He existed before anything was created
and is supreme over all creation,

For through him God created everything
in the heavenly realms and on earth.
He made the things we can see
and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world.
Everything was created through him and for him.

He existed before anything else,
and he holds all creation together.
Christ is also the head of the church,
which is his body.
He is the beginning,
supreme over all who rise from the dead.
So he is first in everything.

For God in all his fullness
was pleased to live in Christ,
and through him God reconciled
everything to himself.
He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth
by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.

Lord Jesus, I thank you for the cruel pains and insults you have borne for me; and for the many blessings you have won for me. Most merciful Redeemeer, Friend and Brother, may I know you more clearly, love you more dearly and follow you more nearly.

Almighty Father, your Son came to us in humility as our Saviour and at the last day he will come again in glory as our judge: give us grace to turn away from darkness to the light of Christ, that we may be ready to welcome him and to enter into his kingdom;
Where he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit. One God, for ever and ever,
Amen.

My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going.

I do not see the road ahead of me.

I cannot know for certain where it will end.

Nor do I really know myself,

and the fact that I think I am following your will

does not mean I am actually doing so.

But I believe that the desire to please you does actually please you.

And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing.

I hope that I never do anything apart from this desire.

And I know that if I do this, you will lead me by the right road,

though I may not know anything about it.

Therefore, I will trust you always,

even though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death.
